Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION. CAN I JUST CALL YOUR OFFICE? For each legal session, we are required to conduct conflict checks and keep certain records. We would be unable to adhere to our conflict and record keeping policies by answering questions over the phone about potential and pending cases. However, we do take calls for questions about whether we handle specific types of cases and issues, to schedule mediations, and to address any system problems you may have in trying to schedule a legal session.

2. DO I HAVE TO PAY TO SCHEDULE A LEGAL SESSION? WHY DO YOU CHARGE FOR LEGAL SESSIONS? We are not a typical family law firm and we do not offer free consultations. Instead, we offer low-cost LEGAL SESSIONS. Legal sessions are different from consultations because we gather information from you, then provide legal strategy options and explain the legal procedure you need to know to move forward. Attorneys that provide free consultations give no, or very little, information to help you with your case. The purpose of a free consultation is to determine whether the attorney is willing to take your case and so the attorney can assess the appropriate retainer amount you will need to pay.

3. CAN I SCHEDULE A LEGAL SESSION OVER THE PHONE? Legal sessions must be booked on our website for efficiency, record keeping, and to avoid employees from having to collect sensitive payment information over the phone.

4. WHERE DO I GO FOR THE LEGAL SESSION? Legal sessions are performed virtually online, not in person. This allows us to be accessible to the entire Arizona community. Although a computer or laptop works best, you can also use your smartphone for the legal session.

5. THERE'S NO AVAILABILITY ON THE CALENDAR AND I NEED A SESSION ASAP. WHAT CAN I DO? If you have a true urgency, you can call the office to be put on the waiting list for any sessions that are rescheduled.

6. DO YOU OFFER PRO BONO (FREE) LEGAL SESSIONS? We do not offer free legal sessions. Our firm transitioned to the current business model to ensure that we can serve the Arizona community by providing very low-cost services that are 75% less than we used to charge.

7. DO YOU HELP WITH ANY OTHER AREAS OF LAW? At this time, our services are only focused on family law and adoption. However, we continuously evaluate our services and may add services in the future for misdemeanor criminal law, DCS cases, tenant issues and eviction.

8. AFTER A LEGAL SESSION, CAN I HIRE YOUR FIRM IF I DECIDE THAT MY CASE IS TOO COMPLICATED TO HANDLE ON MY OWN? We are no longer a full-service firm and we do not offer representation. Meaning, we do not represent people in court. If your legal coach decides that your case is really complicated, or upon your request, your coach will provide you with referrals for reputable firms that our attorneys have worked with in the past.
